    Day 1

    Day 1

20.9 miles, 1,457 feet of ascent, 0 mountains It was great to finally get started on the challenge after months of planning. Arriving at Swansea observatory the weather was very wet and windy, but our enthusiasm couldn't be dampened! Today was all about getting from Swansea to the foot of the first mountains. Tired now but excited for tomorrow. Need sleep so short blog post tonight!
    Food Stashing

    Food Stashing

For the more remote sections of our challenge we will be relying on lightweight high calorie freeze-dried food to fuel us across the mountains! We have arranged to deposit 5 caches of food in advance at key locations that we can collect on our journey. In total we have 62 meals of 1,000 kcal each. Snacks and hydration will be covered separately.
    Wilderness First Aid

    Wilderness First Aid

We have just completed a 3 day wilderness first aid expedition course in preparation for our challenge. The course, run by High Peak First Aid Training, covered key modules in the first two days such as incident management, primary and secondary survey, and vital signs. The third day of the course focused on more specialist topics such as high altitude sickness and catastrophic hemorrhage. Hoping we don't need to use any of our new skills!
